Born in New York City, Diamond Tom is the oldest of six children. Diamond Tom first began performing at age five to his younger siblings, no doubt a captive audience. He soon began performing in school plays and in front of other live audiences. After playing trombone in dance and marching bands, Tom fronted a series of bands, singing and performing everything from "do wop" to early blues and jazz.
After serving his country in the Navy, Tom began his career in sales, which took him on a string of promotions within his company, from sales representative to his current position as vice president of sales and marketing. Beginning in the 1990s, Tom began performing at his company's retreats, culminating in a standing-room-only performance in front of about 1,500 people at a recent retreat.
After this recent performance, Tom continued his love of singing and of motivational showmanship, performing at even more company and family functions. Tom soon decided to put together a live performance tape. This tape was circulated, and shortly thereafter Tom began singing as the hired entertainment at several restaurants and hotels in the southern California area, at several private family gatherings and, most recently, for the University of California-Irvine 2005 faculty holiday party. He has also played at other special events, including for Toys For Tots, CHOC and the American Heart Association.
With the help of Andy Boettner, Tom's vocal coach and himself a former singer in the musical group ''Captain and Tennille,'' Tom has perfected his craft. Known for his spot-on renditions of classics from the great Neil Diamond, Tom also performs songs released by Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Billy Joel, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Engelbert Humperdinck, Enrique Iglesias, Tom Jones, Barry Manilow, Van Morrison, Blood Sweat & Tears, artists from Motown, Roy Orbison, Bobby Rydell, Neil Sedaka, Bruce Springsteen, B.J. Thomas, Three Dog Night, and Barry White, among others.
